Double Podium for Mostert in Surfers

Chaz has made it two from two podiums on the streets of the Gold Coast

Chaz has made it two from two podiums on the streets of the Gold Coast courtesy of a second-place finish in Race 32.

On the other side of the garage there was heartbreak with Nick, out of the race on lap 1 after a massive pile up that took eight cars out instantly and blocked the track.

It was through no fault of his own, just wrong place wrong time, but that didn’t stop him and all other drivers involved helping each other in what was a scary situation. Thankfully everyone was okay.

For Chaz, following the race resuming, he went early in the stops looking for the undercut, and it worked.

After the second round of stops, Chaz had leapfrogged Davison and into second, and was able to fend off any challenge.

With 11 to go, a safety car came out and bunched the field up. Chaz just didn’t quite have the pace to fight for the win, but had enough to sit comfortably in second, capping off a fantastic weekend on that side of the garage.

Sunday wasn’t kind to Nick or that Car 2 side of the garage, but we’ve got one weekend to continue the improvement in the back half of the season, and send the year out on a high.

This weekend moved Chaz up to third in the Drivers Championship with one round remaining.

See you for the finale.

CHAZ MOSTERT

“Awesome weekend all round, team did an amazing job, everything went well, and I think we maximised what we had.

"Would have nice to be able to fight a little harder for the win but with two podiums from starting fourth, we will take it.

“Nice to move up into third in the Championship, just got to work hard to make sure we stay there in Adelaide!”

NICK PERCAT

“Not much to say about today, pretty disappointing for everyone involved and our team, just glad everyone walked away.

“Can’t wait to get to Adelaide, back home, and send the year off the right way.”
